Free Tax Preparation from AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.

Tax-Aide sites are currently open for the 2022 tax season. This year, tax assistance is available by appointment only, so be sure to book an appointment by clicking the button below.

Please Note: Some Tax-Aide Alternative Tax Prep (ATP) service locations have limited capacity or are currently full at this time and are not able to accept appointments or will stop taking appointments soon. The following states will no longer be accepting ATP service requests as of:

April 1 - California, Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma and New York

April 8 - Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin

As an alternative, we encourage you to visit to see if you qualify for OnLineTaxes or one of the other free file options where you can prepare taxes on your own.
